The Sam and Irene Black School of Business at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of the School of Business. The Director serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the School and reports to the Penn State Behrend Chancellor's Office. The Black School of Business is accredited by AACSB International and offers nine undergraduate majors and the graduate MBA and the Master of Project Management programs. It is the administrative home of the internationally ranked online MBA program. It is supported by a $28 million endowment, which supports undergraduate scholarships, graduate fellowships, library and information technology resources, executive education and outreach activities, several faculty chairs, and several centers of excellence including the Economic Research Institute of Erie, Center for Financial and Consumer Outreach, Partnership Erie, Enterprise Resource Planning, and RFID. The School is located in a new $30 million facility with the School of Engineering with which it has developed a unique partnernship.
Candidates must possess leadership, strategic planning, and budgetary experience and have demonstrated potential for academic and administrative leadership. Candidates should possess a terminal degree in their discipline and have a teaching and research record with credentials commensurate for appointment at the rank of full professor with tenure in one of the School's academic disciplines. Exceptional candidates without a terminal degree will be considered with a proven record of success as a senior executive in industry. The ideal candidate will have evidenced involvement with external stakeholders; development experience; industry experience; strong skills in written, oral, and interpersonal communication; commitment to shared governance; a record of progressively increasing administrative responsibilities; experience with recruitment and retention; experience in innovative program development; assessment experience in program, personnel, and external accreditation; and be a strong supporter of diversity. Students and faculty enjoy the extraordinary beauty of the College's 854-acre campus in the suburbs of Pennsylvania's fourth-largest city. The College is comprised of four academic schools (Engineering; Science; Humanities and Social Sciences; Sam and Irene Black School of Business) employing 258 full-time and 60 part-time faculty members. The institution's 4,600 students can choose from 34 baccalaureate majors and 22 minors, six associate degree programs, and two master's programs.
