Position: Visiting Assistant Instructor to serve as an Assistant Coordinator (anticipated). This is a term appointment and does not lead to tenure.

Qualifications: Technical knowledge of motorcycles and extensive motorcycle riding experience is critical. Previous experience in teaching motorcycle safety education is mandatory, and supervisory experience is desirable. Effective and professional communication skills are essential. Computer proficiency skills are expected in word processing, spreadsheets, use of the internet, and data analysis. Abilities to load/unload motorcycle equipment, and haul trailers on rural and urban roadways are critical to conduct responsibilities. In addition, the following requirements must be met:

  • Must possess certification as Motorcycle Safety Foundation Instructor/RiderCoach
  • Motorcycle Safety Foundation Chief Instructor/RiderCoach Trainer certification is required within 18 months of appointment with continual updating.
  • Class DM driver's license as a minimum or equivalent from another state.
  • Clean driving record with no possibility of license suspension or revocation.
  • Minimum B.A. or B.S. degree.
Salary: Commensurate with professional experience.

Responsibilities: Major responsibilities are connected with the administration and business operations of the Motorcycle Rider Program; and procuring and managing motorcycles and other training equipment. The position responsibilities include supervising staff and assisting in training activities for instructional staff, students, and training site support. Work hours are seasonally irregular, include evenings and weekends, and may be unexpectedly long due to problems with weather, site preparations, and/or other issues that need attention.

Date of Hire: February 1, 2013.
