Duties: As an Admissions Counselor, you will represent Benedictine University to the public. You will provide the necessary information needed for prospective students/families in order for them to make an educated decision about their college/university choice. My main responsibility is to carry out recruitment strategies and build interest and awareness of the territory, thereby, increasing the number of transfer and freshman applications and enrollees by serving as their counselor/contact throughout the enrollment process. The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: developing and fostering relationships with students/families through on-campus and off-campus events, maintaining tele-counseling and e-mail contact with students/families, processing files and paperwork, collaborating with other university departments, working on special projects, attending departmental and University wide meetings, delegating projects to student workers, and working with team members to continuously improve recruitment processes and strategies. Other duties will include calling students for and attending various open house events; including one-on-one campus visits with prospective students and families; maintaining daily contact with prospective, applied, and accepted students and their parents to answer general questions about Benedictine University as well as specific questions regarding on-campus events, academic programs, the admissions process, missing application documents, financial aid, requests for additional financial assistance, and registering for placement testing and advising and registration; this will also include devising a travel plan for the fall and the spring seasons to schedule table visits through the Transfer Coordinator at feeder community colleges as well as scheduling meeting times through the high school guidance office to include visits to all primary high schools; including participating in day and evening college fairs; individuals will be processing application reviews, acceptance forms, financial aid award letters, Benedictine grant requests, updating territory caseload spreadsheets daily, completing committee forms as necessary, and filling out Community college/high school visit and college fair evaluation forms for each visit; lastly, this may include, but is not limited to, one on one meetings and presentations with/to High School Guidance Counselors, Community College Advisors, institutional faculty, administration and student organizations.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree required.

Experience: 1-3 years of experience in sales/recruiting preferred. Previous admissions or higher education experience preferred.

Specific Skills: Familiarity with Microsoft Office software required and experience with PeopleSoft administrative system preferred.

Specific Knowledge, Licenses, and Certifications: Valid Driver's License is required.

Working Conditions: General office environment; requires heavy travel; reliable transportation required.
