GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The social media strategist and manager will develop social media strategy and campaigns, help integrate social media into the institutional website, provide training and support for social media managers, and produce videos for law school websites, social media channels, and other digital applications.

SOCIAL MEDIA: Develop and maintain a comprehensive social media strategy for law school; develop social media campaigns and special features for law school's various social media channels; advise social media managers about best practices for creating, managing, monitoring and developing content for social networks; assist managers in setting up accounts; support the integration of social media into the institutional website; evaluate relevant analytics; track new and increasingly engaging ways to execute digital and social media projects

VIDEO: Produce videos for website and other digital applications that feature people, ideas and events throughout the law school. Script, shoot, edit and produce high-quality videos, often within a few hours. Interview faculty members about their scholarship and research; interview students and alumni about their law school endeavors and careers; highlight special events and VIP visits.

DIGITAL ASSETS: Organize and manage digital media assets

DEPARTMENT MISSION: Public Affairs Department oversees institutional communications for the law school, including print and online communications, advertising, and media relations.

Communications:
In social media capacity, individual will interact primarily with staff and faculty. In video capacity, individual will interact with faculty, staff, students and alumni. Excellent written, verbal and online skills required, along with ability to communicate technical concepts and principles effectively to colleagues who do not have technical backgrounds.

Customer Service:
Individual will provide training and support to social media managers in various law school departments through organized training, collaboration on specific projects, and day-to-day advice/guidance.

Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and three years of professional experience in social media development and video production or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience planning and executing ongoing social media communications; advising social media managers on strategy and practice; tracking trends in new and social media; and evaluating performance indicators.

Experience writing scripts for video and interviewing subjects; producing, shooting and editing video; shooting still photography; and coordinating/maintaining digital assets preferred.

Ability to work with broad spectrum of university employees, including social media managers, faculty members, administrators and support staff, as well as students and external constituents, including alumni.

Preferred Skills:
Demonstrated proficiency and commitment to working in the social media sphere, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google+, Foursquare, Flickr, LinkedIn, Pinterest, photo sharing services, blogs, wikis, RSS, social bookmarking and discussion forums.

Proficiency in creating social media plans and content related to the higher education arena preferred.

Familiarity with social media monitoring and measurement platforms.

Proficiency in developing and launching email campaigns preferred.

Good knowledge of SEO principles.

Ability to communicate technical concepts and principles effectively to colleagues who do not have technical backgrounds.

Proficiency with high-definition video production and editing, lighting and audio. Knowledge of current and emerging encoding standards for online video delivery.

Aptitude in digital still photography and image processing an asset.

Familiarity with digital asset management principles and software.

Proficiency with Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro (or Final Cut Pro), After Effects and other Adobe Creative Suite software.

Team player, with confidence to take the lead and guide other departments and colleagues when appropriate.

Ability to work effectively under deadlines and handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
