Position: Southern Illinois University Carbondale seeks applications for the position of Coordinator of Veterans Services.
Duties: This position: 1) Generates collaborations between multiple academic and service units on campus. 2) Develops relationships with external agencies. 3) Disseminates critical information about SIU Carbondale Veterans Services in multiple formats via website, personal presentations, and a written guide. 4) Learns relevant laws and updates knowledge base when changes occur. 5) Functions as certifying official for SIU Carbondale for all veterans. 6) Prepares reports and documents adequate for dissemination to the Governor's Office.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field with two (2) years' experience working with veterans and/or active duty military in an education/training environment with demonstrated skills in budgeting, office management, supervision and customer service. Must possess knowledge of certification process for veterans entering higher education.
Preferred Qualifications: Veteran status preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; exhibited strong leadership and collaborative skills; excellent problem-solving, team building, and a strong commitment to diversity.
