Position Summary: The Director of Business Development is responsible for identifying and developing new education agreements with private sector and public sector entities within the School of Graduate & Professional Studies (GPS). The Director will manage the development and execution of GPS federal, state and local government, corporate, community and military outreach efforts. The Director works independently and collaboratively with all GPS departments/programs/units and other University department representatives.

Education/Experience:

  • Master's degree plus three years corporate sales or business-to-business development experience with Market research experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record; must be insurable
Knowledge/Skills/Ability:
  • Ability and experience working with adult learners; non-traditional, accelerated, distance delivery systems experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong business and project management skills, creativity and ingenuity in developing successful strategies, and demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, effective team skills, and an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Strong technology and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Possess a high degree of personal integrity and strong work ethic
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel is required. Database management and other computer skills are required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities, deadlines and interruptions
  • Ability to work with a diverse population comprised of staff, faculty, prospective students, admitted students, and individuals in the outside community
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends with travel required
Essential Functions:
  • Identify and qualify prospective government, community and corporate partners
  • Develop education alliance agreements with qualifying corporations, community and government entities
  • Manage the contractual process between external partners and GPS
  • Conduct research and compile data on key trends in business, employment, education and market conditions
  • Gather and analyze data about GPS programs and students, competitors, and potential external partners
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities, deadlines and interruptions
  • Ability to work with a diverse population comprised of staff, faculty, prospective students, admitted students, and individuals in the outside community
  • Provide a high level of customer service to all internal and external constituencies
  • Collaborate with the Director of GPS Recruiting and Admissions to establish goals and outreach strategies and targets
  • Collaborate with the Director of GPS Recruiting and Admissions on all relevant marketing materials, promotional materials, exhibit displays, and giveaways
  • Coordinate conference and major event participation
  • Collaborate with all GPS departments/programs/units and other University department representatives
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
