The new Research Associate will serve as a contributing researcher for the CTBUH Research division. The CTBUH Research initiative seeks to explore issues of the environment and behavioral impacts of tall buildings contextually and on their users, examine building design performance and investigate tall building projects to create new knowledge. This research assignment assists with a funded research project conducting a life cycle analysis of structural systems in tall buildings. This candidate may also contribute to the studio teaching / academic programs in the College of Architecture. The CTBUH is an international not-for-profit organization supported by architecture, engineering, planning, development and construction professionals, designed to facilitate exchanges among those involved in all aspects of the planning, design, construction and operation of tall buildings.
Key Responsibility 1
Work in conjunction with the CTBUH Executive Director and Sr. Research Associate to undertake research development, testing and evaluation.
Key Responsibility 2
Prepare research funding proposals and communicate with external parties,potential partners, etc. Develop white papers/guidelines.

May also contribute to the studio teaching / academic programs in the College of Architecture.

Prepare presentations, manuscripts and project-related documents.

Provide staff training regarding research methods and techniques.

Assist in other CTBUH initiatives and activities.
This position will be responsible for communication of findings and report writing, as well as the accurate administration of secure data and management of research deadlines. Candidate should possess strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills as well as strong writing and proof-reading skills, creative problem solving abilities and strong team and organization abilities.
As a primary researcher, clear and concise communication for collecting data and reporting findings is vital to the success of the project research. Supervisory overview will be maintained through periodic reporting of progress to the CTBUH Executive Director and Board of Trustees.
Education & Experience:
Required Ph.D. in Architecture or related Building Sciences plus 1-3 years post-doctoral academic experience. Prior experience in research of the built environment required.
Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, and strong organizational skills required. Strong software skills required for completing research project, specifically MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite and AutoCAD.
