The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the position of the Coordinator, Division of Health Sciences (DHS) events. The Coordinator is responsible for managing events with less than 500 guests and assisting with larger, more complex events within DHS. The Coordinator manages and directs department efforts in developing a theme, invitation creation, menu design, program details, attendees and set-up for assigned events. The coordinator writes news releases as appropriate for DHS events. The Coordinator acts as a liaison with departments, programs, and the DHS concerning all aspects of DHS event policies and procedures. In-depth knowledge of higher education institutional principles, objectives, policies and procedures as they relate to medical school and DHS departmental operations is important in this role. The successful candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills; strong and effective event, financial, budgeting and production management; strong team orientation and strategic planning implementation skills; strong client satisfaction and results orientation; strong decision-making and analytical skills; and effective supervision and management skills. In addition, the DHS Events Coordinator should be sensitive to the needs of the students, faculty, and leadership. Events are held statewide and travel may be necessary.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in marketing, business, journalism or related field from an accredited institution and two
years of professional experience in the area of event management and alumni relations, public relations, advertising, marketing,
fundraising, catering or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience and abilities in writing news releases and producing graphic design of collateral
materials including invitations and flyers.
