GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Director of Graduate Admission Operations, the specialist manages the international and domestic applicant pool. Analyzes and interprets data to support the enrollment goals of the department and the university as a whole. Staff must acquire the skilled customer service by having a sufficient understanding of the programs offered at IIT. The specialist must be able to make quality recommendations for admission to their respective departments by evaluating credentials (in any education system) with a strong level of detail. The C&A Specialist is expected to lead, manage, and direct projects with little or no supervision to meet this responsibility.

Specialists evaluate and improve office efficiency by documenting procedures and policies as necessary and by establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff, colleagues, administrators, and community contacts. Specialists participate in cross-training regularly to ensure staff is fully prepared to assist each other.

Recruitment responsibilities include cultivating and managing strategic partnerships with university partners and colleagues. Ability to make presentations and advise small and large groups of prospective students. Must have the capacity to plan, coordinate, and implement special events, programs, and activities. Attending on-campus open houses and representing Graduate and Professional programs during seasonal recruitment trips is required.

Key Responsibility 1
Manages and evaluates international and domestic applications to ensure requirements are met. Makes appropriate admission recommendations to faculty and applicants as deemed necessary. Reviews admission decisions and communicates decisions to applicants and assists in reaching enrollment goals of the university. Specialist works department to monitor its funding award budget.

Key Responsibility 2
Participates actively in developing and making strong recommendations that improve the efficiency of the admission office. Ability to hire, train and supervise a student assistant, if applicable.

Key Responsibility 3
Develops strong relationships with faculty and applicants to aim for application completion and timely decisions from departments.

Key Responsibility 4
Has a thorough understanding of immigration and SEVIS regulations pertaining to all F-1 and J-1 students to provide accurate advice to applicants. Prepared to serve as a Designated School Official as needed.

Key Responsibility 5
Performs all other duties as assigned.

Communications:
Responds internally to faculty, program directors and externally to applicants via e-mail and phone and various messenger services.

Customer Service:
Responds to faculty, program directors, applicants and admitted student inquiries regarding status and admission requirements. Inquiries are via email, phone or walk-in. Attend and participate in Open Houses. Working with faculty to insure timely decisions are made on applications. Working actively with admitted students to counsel and encourage students to choose IIT to meet enrollment goals.

Education & Experience:
1-3 years of experience with graduate and/or professional admissions processes for both domestic and international applicants and a bachelor's degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) required.
