We are seeking an individual to work with scientists and engineers in drafting, reviewing, and editing technical and scientific publications and other documents related to energy and environmental issues, particularly carbon sequestration.
Responsibilities: Draft manuscripts using text, graphs, and figures provided by scientists and engineers for internal and external publications. Keep authors informed of publisher requirements and formats. Confer with authors to suggest revisions and reorganizations to clarify and/or improve readability. Make final changes and edits per authors' revisions. Review, edit, and proofread technical and scientific reports, proposals, publications, and other documents. Ensure correctness of organization, format, clarity, spelling, punctuation, consistency, completeness, and suitability for publisher.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, or related discipline with related experience. Previous experience with
technical writing and/or editing. Expertise in grammar and language usage. Ability to identify and analyze the organization of a scientific
or other factual report. Knowledge of specialized terminology in geology, petroleum engineering, and geologic sequestration preferred.
Ability to understand, organize, format, and interpret highly technical materials. Ability to communicate effectively with authors,
colleagues, supervisors, staff, and other clients. Ability to work independently and exhibit a strong commitment to complete work
independently and operate within accepted professional and organizational standards. Ability and willingness to effectively contribute as
part of a team.
