The University of Nevada, Department of Family and Community Medicine in Las Vegas, is seeking candidates for multiple full-time Physician Assistant / Family Nurse Practitioners for faculty administrative faculty positions. Duties will include, but are not limited to evaluate and treat acute and chronic illnesses mainly in the geriatric population. Teach and evaluate medical residents, nursing and PA students in the clinical setting according to university guidelines. Represent discipline in quality assurance initiatives. Participate in chart review or other quality improvement activities. Act as liaison and point of contract for department issues in collaborative efforts in family medicine and geriatrics with long term care, residential facilities, and community organizations as requested working with other PA's within the program. Collect and analyze data for department/community activities such as geriatrics and hospital readmissions as requested.
Required Qualifications:
Candidate must have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree, plus an advanced degree (MA, PhD) in a related health discipline. Both degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution. Candidates must also have a minimum of three years' experience in a health care delivery environment delivering clinical patient care.
Current and valid Physician Assistant license issued by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners and/or the Nevada State Board of Osteopathic Medicine and classroom and laboratory instruction in the basic medical and behavioral sciences such as anatomy, pharmacology, pathophysiology, clinical medicine, and physical diagnosis) and a clinical rotation in geriatrics, internal medicine, family medicine, or related field.
Current certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA) and/or Advanced Practitioner of Nursing
(APN) License
Board of Pharmacy License
Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) License
