Major/Essential Duties of Job:
Independent or supervisory roles in research using GIS, statistical and qualitative methods. Participation in preparation of proposals to funding agencies. Installation and operation of research equipment. Evaluation, selection, and application of standard techniques of routine research. Publish scholarly articles in peer reviewed journals. Other duties as required.

Required Education and Experience:
Master's degree in Sociology or a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and three to five years of relevant experience. Skills in survey research methods, quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis. Demonstrated ability to successfully publish in peer reviewed journals. Requires ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Education and Experience:
MA in Sociology. Previous experience in disaster and hazards related research.
