Job Description: The primary purpose of this position is to supervise a significant portion of the landscape operation and
maintenance of the grounds at East Carolina University. The selected candidate must be capable of the full-time supervision of 11 employees
as well as the management of the entire grounds staff during emergencies and special events (i.e.,open houses, homecoming, home football
games, commencements, move-in weekend, etc.). Other management duties include supervision of lawn, shrub, and tree maintenance and
installation; pest management; equipment operations; calculating fertilizer applications; irrigation design, installation, and repair;
management of budget; storm drainage installation and repair; management of roads, walks, and drives; employee timekeeping; purchasing of
equipment, materials, and supplies; and coordination with other facilities employees, academic departments, athletics, students, staff, and
faculty. Position will require employee to be on-call.Graduation from an accredited College/University with horticulture, turf-grass management or related degree and a minimum of two years of experience in the development and implementation of landscape plans and/or grounds maintenance at a large scale landscape operation or nursery; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
Candidates should possess a valid NC driver's license and be eligible to operate a state-owned vehicle in accordance with the ECU property policy. Candidates should also possess a pesticide license or be eligible to obtain licensure within the first six months of employment.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require certification or eligibility for certification.
Special Instructions to Applicants: This position is subject to the Career Banding Salary Administration Plan. If candidates are not identified at the Advanced level, management may consider candidates at a lower competency level. Pay will be commensurate with applicant's competencies as well as budget, equity, and market considerations.
Salary Grade Equivalent: 62 (for reduction-in-force priority purposes only)
