This position is no longer an active posting on HigherEdJobsJob Description: The Department of Pediatrics seeks a Clinical Nurse Specialist to provide direct patient care and case management for the newly created ECU Family Autism Center. The ideal candidate will be self-directed and utilize critical thinking skills, communicate effectively orally and in writing, possess and demonstrate leadership qualities, and be able to perform many tasks simultaneously. Knowledge of autism and its systems of care, while not a prerequisite, will be emphasized as the Center serves a regional need and creates a specialized program of excellence. The selected candidate will be able to prioritize clinical situations; ensure orders are written and carried out in an expeditious manner; provide nursing input into patient care; and facilitate communication between the specialty and ancillary departments and staff, making appropriate referrals as needed. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will be expected to work with a positive approach in a team environment and interact with patients and their families, clinicians, residents, medical students, nursing students, and other learners on a daily basis. serving an essential role as an autism advocate and educator. Prefer two years of pediatric nursing experience and some experience with patients with autism or other developmental disabilities. BLS certification preferred.

The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant serves as the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from state-accredited school of registered nursing and two years of nursing experience, with at least one year in the assigned specialty area. Must have a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Special Instructions to Applicants: This position is subject to the Broad Banding Salary Administration Plan. If candidates are not identified at a Nurse Specialist level, management may consider candidates at the ECU Staff Nurse level. Pay will be commensurate with applicant's competencies as well as budget, equity, and market considerations.
