Job Summary: Strategizes and concepts high-level marketing campaigns for varying units at IU, including departments, schools, campuses, and the university as a whole. Directs creative teams, marketing professionals, and clients in successfully marrying the goals of marketing initiatives and best practices in user-centered design to achieve optimal return on marketing investment dollar. Supervises and participates in the conception and creation of innovative visual design strategies that have a lasting impact on the brand, product, or client campaign along with the technical team's implementation of client-approved visual design systems to digital interactives.

Obtains and interprets client business objectives while considering user needs by participating in stakeholder interviews and focus groups, listening to client needs, and creating partnerships with those clients to solve the communications problems they face while working with an internal team of communications professionals to find the best solutions possible. Collaborates with stakeholders to ensure interaction strategy, marketing strategy, and visual design meet business requirements and user experience objectives. Presents, receives feedback, and follows through on client requests.

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in informatics, human-computer interaction design, experience design, graphic design, visual communications, web design, or related discipline, and five years of relevant work experience.

Combinations of related education and experience will be considered.

Experience in the development of graphics for digital applications including desktop, mobile, and web-centered; experience in creative marketing conception including facilitating and participating in team brainstorms, participating in the implementation process of these concepts, and presenting to clients and project stakeholders; and experience in technical implementation of visual designs and interactivity across media, including exhaustive knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and the print and web production processes.

Knowledge of user-centered design and usability principles, issues, and techniques; understanding of visual design principles and the ability to implement these principles in projects following the research- and user-centered design process; and experience in brand strategy and implementation.

Demonstrated familiarity with web content management systems, XHTML/CSS, CMS, and other web development tools; strong client presentation and communication skills; and demonstrated ability to perform detailed work, interact with staff, faculty, and vendors, change priorities as project expands or project needs change, and perform multiple, concurrent tasks with constant interruptions.

Demonstrated creativity in identifying complex problems and finding solutions quickly and accurately; strong attention to detail in communicating issues and implementing solutions; ability to work in an organization or agency with a record of marketing/public relations work for clients with multiple audiences and many products; and knowledge of Indiana University or comparable institution.

Preferred: Master's degree in informatics, human-computer interaction design, experience design, graphic design, visual communications, web design, or related discipline.
