The Department of Engineering and Technology at Western Carolina University invites applicants for two tenure-track, nine-month faculty
positions, beginning in Fall 2012, at the assistant/associate professor level in the B.S. Electrical Engineering
program.
Responsibilities include instruction, establishment of a self-supporting research program; publish in appropriate media; mentor undergraduate and graduate students in existing applied research programs and senior capstone projects; advising, curriculum development, and engagement with the regional business and industry.
Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering field, a minimum of three years of full-time U.S. engineering experience, effective written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior college level teaching experience is highly desirable. Demonstrated significant research experience in the area of electric power engineering and a record of participation in significant engineering projects is also highly desirable. In addition to having the ability to teach fundamental electrical engineering courses, a candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to teach undergraduate courses in the area of electric power engineering, e.g., renewable energy engineering, computer methods in power system analysis, smart power grid systems, and power electronics. Familiarity with ABET accreditation is highly desirable. Successful candidates will be expected to support the University's external engagement mission, the application of scholarship through the Boyer Model, and our quality enhancement program (QEP).
