Job Summary/Responsibilities: The Assistant Director of Individual Events (ADIE) of Illinois State University will primarily be responsible for the direction, planning, coordination and development of the Individual Events program at ISU, under the supervision of the Director of Individual Events (DIE) and the Director of Forensics (DOF).

In addition to providing classroom instruction, the ADIE will supervise graduate student coaches and undergraduate team members, coach individual and team competitors before and during tournaments, hold weekly meetings with the DOF as well as the other coaches and team members, assist in fundraising efforts, assist in alumni relations, maintain team morale, travel to tournaments, and judge at tournaments when necessary.
This is a 9 month position (August 16th to May 15th).

Required Qualifications: Master's degree in Communication or equivalent field. Four years experience in intercollegiate speech/individual event either as competitor or coach. One year of experience in undergraduate classroom instruction. Must also possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive State of Illinois vehicles.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:
Experience in undergraduate classroom instruction. Excellent management, organizational, and communication skills. Professional and mature attitude. Ability to host tournaments. Ability to arrange tournament travel logistics.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge and experience in recruiting. Computer skills including proficiency in Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel. Ability to use discretion regarding confidential matters.
