The Associate Director, Programming, under the leadership of the Associate Dean, Extension and Outreach, provides strategic direction and policy to enhance University of Illinois Extension’s campus and statewide field outreach programs. The individual in this position will work closely with the Associate Director, Budget and Finance; Associate Director, Field Operations; ACES Human Resources; Program Leaders; and Regional Directors.
Administrative Relationship
The Associate Director, Programming reports to the Associate Dean and Director, Extension and Outreach, College of ACES. Working as a member of the Associate Dean and Director’s core administrative team, this position provides counsel, support, and day-to-day statewide programmatic assistance to the Associate Dean, Extension and Outreach. The Associate Director, Programming, supervises the four state Program Leaders (4-H Youth Development, Family and Consumer Sciences, Community and Economic Development, and Agricultural and Natural Resources).

This is a security-sensitive position. Comprehensive background checks, including but not limited to a criminal conviction information check, a CANTS check, and a review of the Registered Sex Offender list, will be conducted.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership to ACES and campus faculty to identify major problems impacting Illinois residents and design outreach/extension activities, stemming from knowledge and research on campus.
Provide direction in all aspects of program delivery by working with Program Leaders, Director of Extension Technology, Director of Web Development and Director of Evaluation and Reporting.
Initiate partnerships with community colleges across the state to enhance educational opportunities, outreach initiatives, and on-line offerings.
Create opportunities for continuing education credit offerings and for generating tuition dollars. Develop strategies for offering outreach/extension classes or course offerings.
Interface with the Office of Public Engagement to extend understanding and promotion of outreach programming in Illinois and minimize duplication of effort.
Develop and implement a communication strategy to inform legislative officials, county government, university personnel, community leaders and the public regarding the mission of Extension and programming impact associated with outreach/extension programs and efforts.

Personal transportation required; occasional state-wide travel may be required.
Qualifications Required
- PhD. degree in a field related to Extension programming from an accredited institution.
- Five years of professional experience in organizational administration, preferably in Extension.
- Excellent written/oral communications, interpersonal and teamwork skills required.
- Demonstrated success in the delivery and programming leadership of educational programs.
- Experience in developing, managing, and evaluating educational programs.
- Evidence of the ability to promote creativity, vision, and successful programming outreach.
Qualifications Preferred
- Knowledge of the mission of University of Illinois Extension and the land grant system.
- Knowledge of campus department policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work with public and private organizations

The position is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenured academic professional position appointed on a 12-month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
