ROLE of the POSITION
This position works under the general direction of the Undergraduate Recruitment Coordinator and is a requirement of the sub-grant award received through the Nevada Department of Education. The Ambassador is responsible for managing the activities conducted within state GEAR UP schools. This includes a number of diverse activities aimed at meeting the comprehensive counseling, instruction, and mentoring of participants within any assigned school and coordinating activities to enhance and increase the participation of parents and students. Moreover, this position will coordinate various parent involvement activities, tutoring sessions, and after school and summer programs. The Ambassador will assist the Undergraduate Recruitment Coordinator in ensuring that the ambassador will facilitate a positive working relationship with the school district, CCSD (especially the SPIFs) and NSHE personnel (primarily other Ambassadors).
This position requires a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Counseling, Education, Communications or a related field and two years of related professional experience; an understanding of the value of higher education; ability to effectively communicate with culturally and ethnically diverse populations; possess excellent written and oral communication skills; be willing to be a team player; be willing to work evenings and weekends and travel approximately 2-4 weeks per semester; must possess a valid driver's license.
Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
