Job Summary: The CITO Apple Systems Administrator will be a key member of the CITO Technical Services Team which manages Tier-2 functions within the CITO enterprise environments. Position focuses on the implementation and ongoing support of CITO Apple OSX servers and Apple enterprise environment, enhancing existing CITO services as well as providing new services and IT accountability for the CITO Apple desktop environment. Responsible for architecting and maintaining the reliability, performance, and functionality of the unit's enterprise OSX servers, including file servers, print servers, database servers, and web servers, for all supported Apple and Windows server operating environments. Provides technical support and consultation for AD and LDAP integrations within the CITO desktop environment. Develops centralized scripting and application management, on-demand software installations, file storage and print services, and SharePoint Management and Schemas. This position will be heavily dependent on cross-collaboration and partnerships with other CITO, IT teams, insuring the security and integrity of CITO systems and will serve as a liaison between CITO and various IU Central IT entities such as IU Network Operations, DNS Admin, AD Administrators, IU Messaging, and IU IT Edge units. Assists with evaluations, acquisitions, and implementations of server and client side infrastructure technologies.

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems with coverage of operating systems, server security, and networking concepts and practices and five years of computing and information systems administration experience in an Apple and Windows environment.

Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience. Appropriate industry certifications or a combination of relevant certifications and experience considered.

Exceptional knowledge and practical experience in Apple LDAP and central managed desktop architectures. Expert knowledge of Mac OS X administration including server administration, Apple Remote Desktop, and NetBoot/Net Install; proficiency with Mac OS X 10.5 up to the current release version of Mac OS X; and proficiency with Apple Directory Services and LDAP.

Proficiency in the deployment of Mac OS X compliant applications and monthly patch releases to both server and client architectures; proficiency with all Microsoft applications for both Windows and Mac OS environments; and demonstrated competence in the following programming and scripting languages: AppleScript, Bash scripting, Visual Basic, Cold Fusion, .NET Windows Framework, VBScript, JavaScript, PowerShell, Windows CMD and BAT. Proficient with Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008; and technical understanding of Active Directory and group policies.

Thorough understanding of IT concepts including operating systems Apple, Microsoft and NIX, data management, networking, and security; solid understanding of 'Best Practices' in IT; and good technical and non-technical documentation skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills; exceptional asset tracking and management skills; and technical leadership skills.

Preferred: Two years of computing and information UNIX systems administration experience; experience in higher education IT environments; and familiarity with VMware and Tivoli. Experience with PERL, Python and C++.

Note: This position is on a 24x7 call status and is regularly required to work well beyond a 40 hour work week serving the College and units within the Office of the Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Multicultural Affairs (DEMA/OASD).
