This position is no longer an active posting on HigherEdJobsJob Summary: Develops and generates complex ad-hoc reports and data extracts from the IU Student Information System (Oracle/PeopleSoft) and IU data warehouse (DSS and/or ODS tables) environments. Performs coordination, analysis, and systems tasks including design, programming, testing, and documentation of data sources related to UIRR reporting responsibilities. Coordinates the preparation and transmission of data and reports to outside agencies and assists with the maintenance of institutional reports and profiles on the UIRR website.
The scope of the work is broad and requires excellent technical and analytical ability, with particular emphasis on data extraction, analysis, computer applications, report generation, and attention to detail. Supports university-level planning, governmental compliance reporting, accreditation, exploratory analysis, and institutional research and assessment activities by developing capabilities to provide easy access to management and planning data. Provides management and decision support information, by designing and preparing datasets from internal human resource and student data sources.
Specific duties include: working collaboratively with other institutional research staff to define, develop, and document data sources for institutional planning, and improve data analysis and reporting. Core activities include the design, development, implementation, integration, documentation, and maintenance of computer applications and decision support systems capable of serving the needs of the institution. Experience and proficiency with SQL for complex data extraction from the data warehouse, and facility with software such as Excel, SAS/SPSS or Access for data manipulation and analysis are essential.

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree and two years of experience with SQL programming.
Ability to write SQL queries to pull and manipulate data from various sources; experience developing and maintaining end user reports; and ability to logically outline and document technical procedures and processes. Ability to develop technical and user documentation related to reports and the underlying data; ability to create visual and tabular reports; and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Experience using analytical and technical skills that illustrate progressively more responsible and related experience; strong technical expertise in data management and the development of database applications; and a basic understanding of business intelligence and relational database concepts. Ability to exercise independent judgment and work under pressure; ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and consistently meet deadlines; and flexibility in assuming other assignments.
