Job Description: The selected candidate will provide administrative support to the Academic Advising and Support Center (AASC). This center employees 13 academic advisors and 3 administrative assistants. The person in this position will serve as the primary administrative assistant working in the AASC reception area. Primary responsibilities include monitoring the phone lines; responding to questions from students, students' parents, faculty and staff; scheduling appointments; and triaging students who need academic support/advising assistance. This person will also assist in monitoring departmental budget, ordering office supplies, and resolving maintenance issues/needs.

Candidates should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills; the ability to create new systems and procedures; the ability to use spreadsheets and database software packages; and the ability to compose and edit correspondence and other documents. Also necessary is the ability to take initiative, to solve problems, triage incoming students and phone calls, and multi-task efficiently. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with college students and possessing basic knowledge of ECU academic policies/procedures and training in Banner. Prefer four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Special Instructions to Applicants: This position is subject to the Career Banding Salary Administration Plan. If candidates are not identified at the Journey level, management may consider candidates at a lower competency level. Pay will be commensurate with applicant's competencies as well as budget, equity, and market considerations.

Salary Grade Equivalent: 61 (for reduction-in-force priority purposes only)
