This position is no longer an active posting on HigherEdJobsJob Description: The Department of Cardiovascular Sciences seeks a highly organized professional, and Certified Medical Office Assistant to facilitate care of patients in an outpatient setting. Primary responsibility would be:
1.) phlebotomy in a progressive clinic laboratory that performs laboratory testing on patients being seen at East Carolina Heart Institute at ECU as well as other pre-operative patients within the ECU Physicians.
2.) Collection of blood samples from properly identified patients through established protocols using proper technique.
3.) Transportation and receipt of samples for laboratory testing.
4.) Process patient request and perform venipuncture, (skin puncture).
5.) Clean equipment and area.
6.) Serves as an information resource regarding specimen requirements for testing.
7.) Organize Lab Request Forms for Next Day Workload
8.) Check for diagnosis codes
9.) Check physician's name
10.) Check for all pertinent patient information
11.) Organize all laboratory testing request paperwork
Clinical experience knowledge of vital sign measurement, and EKG testing required, Current basic CPR and Phlebotomy certification is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require registration as a Nurse Aide by the North Carolina Board of Nursing, or certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA.)
Special Instructions to Applicants: This position is subject to the Career Banding Salary Administration Plan. If candidates are not identified at the Advanced level, management may consider candidates at a lower competency level. Pay will be commensurate with applicant's competencies as well as budget, equity, and market considerations.
Salary Grade Equivalent: 57 (for reduction-in-force priority purposes only)
