Duties: The temporary employee will function as a coordinator as part of the Career Development team whose primary responsibility is to assist students and alumni with security part-time and full-time jobs. In addition to assisting in all aspects of the department, this position will assist with employer relations operations, as well as coordinating the connections between external and internal constituents for the Career Development Center. Other duties will include: researching potential employers for Benedictine University adult students and alumni and coordinating employer site visits and on-campus visits by employers; expanding the relationship of the Alumni Office with the Career Development Office to foster connections in developing a network that can benefit alumni and current students; advising students, staff and alumni on career development related topics including job search, resume and cover letter writing, interviewing and graduate school; soliciting opportunities to work collaboratively with community organizations, providing career resources and related information to students and alumni preparing to enter the workforce or making career transitions; and planning, implementing and evaluating special programs utilizing the expertise of employers, faculty, and staff to better prepare students and alumni for the workforce. This is a temporary, part-time position. Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree required
Experience: Minimal of 2 years experience in higher education, counseling and/or advising, or professional staffing
Specific Skills: This position requires a person with strong communication, presentation and networking skills. Must have experience using social media such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and other networking sites. Must be competent in word processing, spreadsheet and database software. The successful candidate should have a demonstrated commitment to or experience with diverse populations. Must have experience administering and interpreting the MBTI and Strong Interest.
Working Conditions: Must be willing to travel.
