The City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) District 508, is the largest community college system in Illinois and one of the largest in the nation, with 5,800 faculty and staff serving 120,000 students at seven campuses and thirteen satellite sites city-wide. The City Colleges of Chicago is currently in the midst of a collaborative effort to review and revise CCC programs and practices to ensure students leave CCC college-ready, career-ready and prepared to pursue their life's goals.
CCC includes seven colleges: Richard J. Daley College, Kennedy-King College, Malcolm X College, Olive-Harvey College, Harry S Truman College, Harold Washington College and Wilbur Wright College. The system also oversees: the Washburne Culinary Institute, the French Pastry School, two restaurants, five Child Development Centers, the Center for Distance learning, the Workforce Institute, the public broadcast station WYCC-TV Channel 20 and radio station WKKC-FM 89.3FM.
Under supervision, assists a program director in administering student financial aid programs for a City College; and performs related duties as required.
Supervises staff engaged in interviewing college applicants and other interested parties requesting in formation and assistance in applying for student financial aid. Oversees the processing of financial aid awards and the preparation of student financial packages/budgets. Conducts orientation sessions to provide information regarding the types of financial aid programs available and the eligibility requirements. Assists in designing intra office forms and procedures for the efficient administration of grants, loans and work/study awarded to students.
Provides technical advice to staff members engaged in the interviewing and processing of applicants for financial aid. Interprets and explains regulations governing Federal, State and college based financial aid programs. Prepares financial reports to governmental agencies regarding funds received and disbursed to students. Maintains and oversees the maintenance of permanent records and files documenting financial aid awards received by students. Assists in evaluating and approving work sites and employers for work/study program.
Performs other duties as assigned.
All CCC employees are required to adhere to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.
An Associate of Arts degree from an accredited junior college supplemented by two years of progressively responsible experience in administering student financial aid programs; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Knowledge of various financial aid programs available to college students and knowledge of eligibility requirements of available financial aid programs. Knowledge of regulations governing State, Federal and college based financial aid programs. Ability to plan, direct and review the work of a subordinate staff and the ability to perform arithmetic calculations and prepare student financial packages. Good verbal and written communication skills and skill in developing effective working relationships with staff.
