ROLE of the POSITION
This position exists to assist in the administration of the over $240 million in student aid programs at UNLV. Approximately 70% of all students receive some form of financial aid. This position provides students, families, and the internal and external University communities with information about fund sources, debt management, budgeting, student financial planning, and guidelines for mastering on-line and interactive applications and self-counseling services. This position also works directly with students to enhance their understanding of the practical meaning behind their rights and responsibilities when applying, accepting, and regaining eligibility for scholarship, grant, part-time employment, and student loan programs.

Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships, the Associate Director of Client Services requires an understanding of enrollment management strategies and the ability to apply such strategies in an effective manner consistent with the policies of federal, state, and NSHE policies and guidelines. Financial aid leveraging, data analysis, query writing, student development theory, managerial skills, accommodating personality, and other support skills are necessary to maintain the performance requirements necessary within an enrollment services environment.

The Associate Director of Client Services supervises and trains the Client Services staff. The incumbent will review business processes, analyze data, develop procedures manuals, update forms, develop literature and outreach programs. This position continuously monitors the financial aid environment for improvements and makes necessary adjustments to minimize audit findings and enhance customer service.
This position assists in developing and running queries necessary to maintain data integrity including UNLV data analysis trends, ad hoc reports, IPEDS, Common Data Set, etc.

This position requires a well-rounded individual who has experience within most aspects of a financial aid business process such as common origination and disbursements, awarding, repackaging, return of title IV funds, verification, counseling, direct lending, alternative loans, employee supervision, a firm command of the federal student aid handbook, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling, Education, Business, Interdisciplinary Studies, Communication, or another closely related field and five years of comparable professional experience in student financial aid/services including: experience supervising and training financial aid personnel; knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and policies regarding financial aid programs and the ability to interpret and ensure compliance with them. Candidates should possess: good customer service skills; ability to work collaboratively; incisive analytic ability to collect and interpret qualitative and statistical data for problem-solving and forecasting; excellent written and oral communication skills; strong computer skills, including familiarity with financial aid/student information systems, as well as spreadsheet and word-processing applications.

SALARY RANGE
Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
