Black Hawk College, located in Illinois, seeks a Dean of Arts of Humanities for the Quad Cities Campus.

The Dean of Arts of Humanities is responsible for the planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and curricula that enhance instruction and achieve student learning outcomes. The Dean has the responsibility for the development and maintenance of qualified instructional staff and coordination of programs. The Dean monitors and coordinates program accountability, prepares reports, manages support services and personnel; prepares and reviews budgets, and reviews class scheduling. The Dean is responsible for new program development, and the establishment of community and educational partnerships.

The essential job duties for this position include:

a. Advises administration and instructional chairs relative to personnel allocations, appointments, salary negotiations, sabbaticals and leave requests, collective bargaining interpretations, and other personnel-related activities.
b. Prepares budgets, analyzes revenues and expenditures, and makes recommendations for resources allocation and management to the VPIS.
c. Reviews and recommends salaries for new employees and faculty, including adjunct faculty (based on quality points), and visiting scholars within College policies and guidelines.
d. Serves as member of the Vice President for Instruction management team and College committees as assigned, and leads the Instructional Services Council.
e. Provides leadership for the establishment of partnerships including businesses and community organizations, secondary schools, and four-year institutions.
f. Drives student learning assessment in both career and general education curriculum.
g. Coordinates preparation and submission of course, degree, and program requests, and reports; coordinates and oversees academic programs reviews and accreditations.
h. Provides leadership for instructional initiatives; including new program development and revision of curricular programs and courses to meet the changing needs of students and area businesses.
i. Coordinates ESL program.
j. Works collaboratively with faculty department chairs in development of course schedules, hiring of faculty and faculty development initiatives.

Education and Experience:

a. An earned Master's degree or higher from an accredited institution required. Doctorate preferred.
b. Minimum of five (5) years of college-level teaching experience required, preferably in a community college.
c. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in management of higher education academic programs including program development, class scheduling and faculty loading, project management, and implementation of academic policies required.
d. Evidence of financial resource acquisition and multi-budget management required.
e. Experience with student data base required (e.g. SCT Banner, PeopleSoft, Datatel, etc.)
f. Experience in implementation of collective bargaining agreements preferred.
