This position is no longer an active posting on HigherEdJobsJob Summary: With multi-campus responsibility leads and manages information technology services and support serving Indiana University executives, their immediate representatives, and all UITS staff on the Bloomington and Indianapolis campuses. Executive offices include the President's Offices, Vice Presidents' offices, the IU Council, and the Board of Trustees. Leads a team of IT support professionals to provide the highest level of IT support 24x7x365 regardless of location.
In collaboration with OVPIT and UITS units assures that best IT practices and standards are implemented; leads the use and support of IT solutions to best serve these constituencies; plans and organizes services and people to deliver excellent, efficient and effective IT support; and anticipates needs and innovate with technology. Develops and maintains operational and strategic plans and budgets, establishes practices and procedures, and directs the activities of staff to meet and exceed the IT support requirements of Indiana University executives, their representatives, and IT staff within UITS.
Provides leadership and technical expertise in design, development, and implementation of policies, methods, techniques, and procedures. Coordinates customer support and service support models to address significant professional needs, resolve problems, and assist in the development and management of campus information technology goals, objectives, plans and policies. Develops and maintains a Disaster Recovery Plan and Business Continuity Plans for all systems managed including maintaining virtual servers ready for Linux, Windows and Mac OS and application delivery.
Manages staff including the hiring, training, performance-based evaluation, corrective action, and professional development of the EITS staff. Supervises and participates with unit team leaders in managerial activities including establishing work plans and short-term operational objectives, monitoring complex shift staffing requirements, establishing priorities, and assigning tasks to ensure optimal performance.
Develops and administers organizational unit budget; communicates program needs to other University IT managers, superiors, and external audiences; and creates partnerships, develops plans and formulates strategies to ensure delivery of appropriate related organizational unit services. Represents both UITS and executive level interests on internal and external project teams, committees, and ongoing information shares. Advises and provides leadership regarding future direction of applicable technology trends as they relate to software and desktops services.

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in informatics, computer science, or appropriate degree and five years of progressive computing and management experience.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Significant expertise in providing IT support; experience supporting users in a mixed Microsoft Windows, Apple and UNIX systems environment; strong familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory and network fundamentals; and demonstrated ability to lead and direct a professional staff delivering high quality support.
Ability to lead and/or work with ad hoc groups of people from various levels of the university community; ability to thrive and grow in a constantly changing environment; and demonstrated skills in leading a proactive customer service organization. Excellent oral and written communication skills; good project management skills; and demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Preferred: Significant experience in leading professional IT support to a similar set of constituencies. SANS Security or equivalent certification. Programming experience and familiarity with IU technology infrastructure and IU administrative structure.
