This position is no longer an active posting on HigherEdJobsVisiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry: Catawba College's Department of Chemistry invites applications for a nine-month, full-time, non-tenure-track position to begin in August, 2013. It is preferred that applicants for this position hold a Ph.D. in the chemical sciences; ABD will be considered. Applicants must be committed to teaching at a residential liberal arts college.
The primary responsibility of the position will be to teach lecture and laboratory courses in organic chemistry and environmental chemistry. Additionally, preference will be given to those candidates able to teach inorganic chemistry.
Catawba College, located in the Piedmont of North Carolina, is within a half-day's drive of the Appalachian Mountains and the coast. The College maintains research and educational laboratories equipped with IR, NMR, GCMS, HPLC, ICP, UV-Vis, Fluorescence, and SEM instruments. The on-campus 189-acre Catawba Ecological Preserve contains a diverse wetlands habitat.
