This position is no longer an active posting on HigherEdJobsSarah Lawrence College, a private, coeducational college located 30 minutes north of midtown Manhattan, is seeking applicants for the position Library Assistant for Research Services. This position supports the College Archivist and Acting Head of Reference in collection management and research in the Library and College Archives.
Responsibilities include arranging College Archives collections in all formats in accordance with professional standards and local best practices, catalog collection level records in MARC, Assist with maintenance of digital assets and resources, staff the College Archives when the College Archivist and Acting Head of Reference is not in the office, and assisting with maintenance of social media (Facebook pages and blog content) and websites including maintaining EAD finding aids.
Qualified candidates must possess A bachelor's degree (or higher) in history, archives, museum, library, or special collections, the ability to work independently, prioritize, and exercise initiative and judgment, strong interpersonal skills, mature, and the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, excellent computer and technical skills. One year of experience working in a library, archives, museum, or special collections setting and familiarity with MARC, Archivists' Toolkit, DACS, and EAD preferred.
