This position is no longer an active posting on HigherEdJobsThe Research Scholar for the Center for Rural Health and Health Disparities (CRHHD) will provide advanced professional research leadership for an identified sub portion of the larger grant-funded initiative, serving as research team leader under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. This position will apply advanced research skills and medical knowledge to adapt, implement, and supervise protocols and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the research. They will also serve as a resource to the research team and to subordinates in the resolution of complex problems and issues, and offer knowledge in specialized areas. Assignments will require originality, ingenuity, leadership, and discretion when determining appropriate/best approach. In addition, this position will design and implement team protocols, participate actively in the preparation of papers and abstracts and write some sections independently, and present research abstracts on behalf of the CRHHD. This person will also be responsible for orientation, training, and supervision of lower level employees, as well as assisting with budget monitoring and progress reporting. This is a grant funded position and is contingent upon continuation of funding.
A master's degree from an accredited college/university in a health related field as well as five years of post-graduate clinical research experience/specialized educational training is required. A PhD is desirable. The candidate should have a thorough understanding of research design and methodology to effectively design and implement research protocols as well as the ability to communicate with a wide range of people and medical professionals including nurses, physician faculty, research team members, students, and patients on a daily basis. In addition the successful candidate should have familiarity and comfort with technology to permit oversight of computerized assessment procedures, video-conferencing-based qualitative interviewing procedures, and importing of digital patient records. Knowledge of statistical data software programs such as SPSS and nVivo to provide assistance with data cleaning and analysis as needed is highly desirable. Selection of the final candidate is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
