POST-DOCTORAL SCHOLAR POSITION

Penn State's Leonhard Center for the Enhancement of Engineering Education is seeking a post-doctoral scholar to lead studies related to undergraduate programs in the College of Engineering. These studies will focus on the first-year experience, including first-year seminars and first-year design, and on retention before and after admission to an engineering major with the intention of understanding the reasons that students are choosing to stay or leave. The post-doctoral scholar will also participate in a study of classroom-based approaches to enhancing academic integrity. As time permits, the post-doctoral scholar will participate in other projects such as developing and assessing faculty-driven projects in engineering education and leading college-level workshops relating to instructional practices and educational research.

The position requires knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research, including mixed methods studies. The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in communication and collaboration. The ability to publish and present the results of the studies at national or international conferences is also important for the position. Minimum requirements for the position are a Ph.D. in an appropriate field such as engineering education, educational psychology, or higher education. Knowledge of current trends in engineering education is desirable. This is an annually renewable, fixed-term appointment.

Applicants should submit a letter of interest, a résumé, and a list of three references via email to Ms. Lindsey Garner at lrr128@psu.edu. Review of applications will begin on 1 March 2014 and will continue until the position is filled.

We encourage applications from individuals of diverse backgrounds.

Employment will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
