Library Faculty Vacancy
DUTIES: The Humanities Librarian plays an important role in the delivery of the University of Oklahoma Libraries’ reference and outreach services. Reporting to the Head of Reference and Outreach Services, this position will develop liaison relationships with student groups, faculty members, and campus departments; collaborate with others to develop innovative ways to meet users’ needs; and work with faculty and staff to evaluate and analyze usage and user trends to support future planning and development. The position includes diverse general and subject-oriented professional activities, including individual and group research consultation, undergraduate and graduate instruction in the effective use of information resources, and collection development in the humanities. This position requires a flexible schedule including nights and weekends. Depending on future organizational needs, position duties may be adjusted. This is a tenure-track position governed by the university’s policies requiring research or creative achievement and professional services as outlined in the university's Faculty Handbook at http://www.ou.edu/provost/pronew/content/fhbmenu.html.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED: ALA-accredited Masters degree in library or information science; undergraduate or graduate degree in the humanities; a minimum of one year of recent professional public service experience in an academic library, including experience in reference, instruction, and collection development; excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative environment; evidence of planning and project management skills; and reading knowledge of at least one foreign language (ancient or modern).
DESIRABLE: Experience in providing outreach services in academic libraries; experience with relevant Web 2.0 technologies and social networking tools; advanced degree in the humanities; evidence of scholarly research or creative achievement.
