Full-time, Tenure-track position for Fall Semester, starting August 17, 2011

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Provide individual and group academic, career and personal development counseling to all students as well as at-risk student groups (i.e., academic probation, undecided students, mental health issues, etc.) and provide career counseling to district community members
* Provide counseling for crisis intervention and emotional issues for the College community
* Work collaboratively with all divisions in Academic and Student Affairs to promote student success
* Actively participate in Academic and Student Affairs division efforts as well as College committees and other activities to facilitate the achievement of goals, enhance communication, and foster professional relationships
* Select, administer, and interpret various inventories, tests, and diagnostic instruments for counseling department
* Serve as Coordinator for First Year Experience Course (FYEC):
- Provide leadership in the assessment of program goals and learning outcomes of the FYEC with the collaboration of the Academic Resource Team
- Integrate Course goals and objectives into college-wide strategic planning effort
- Coordinate curriculum and program development, review and articulation activities, including program reviews with the assistance of the Academic Resource Team
- Teach two classes per year, one FYEC and one PDV 100/110 course, one each fall and one each spring semester
- Hire, evaluate, discipline, and terminate departmental adjunct faculty
- Coordinate orientation of full-time and adjunct faculty teaching FYEC
- Coordinate the development of department operating and equipment budget priorities
- Monitor the FYEC budget
- Coordinate FYEC communications and regular meetings
- Coordinate the development of marketing strategies for the FYEC, including brochures, flyers, billboards, radio spots, and the College web page
- Monitor textbook and software orders
- Identify and articulate all FYEC enrollment management strategies and priorities
- Coordinate and participate in the assessment of student learning and data collection
* Assist in curriculum development through preparation of additional Personal Development (PDV) courses, revision of current courses, and program reviews, consistent with the needs of the College and the community
* General involvement as a faculty member in participatory College governance and committees, advisement of students, and professional development
* Support continuous quality improvement through participation in AQIP
* Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Dean of Student Success


* Master's Degree in Counseling to include 15 hours of counseling theories, career counseling, testing, and group counseling,and a supervised practicum/internship
* Experience in facilitation and development of personal development courses and workshops
* Ability to interact with students and colleagues in a positive and collaborative manner
* Commitment to the mission of the community college, as well as teaching and motivating students in ways appropriate to their diverse backgrounds and learning styles
* Demonstrated commitment to professional development
* One year community college counseling experience preferred

Salary commensurate with education and experience. Minimum $45,900/annually.
