The Graduate School of Nursing (GSN), Office of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Department of Family Nurse Practitioners invites applications for an Assistant Professor position. The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs accredited Graduate School of Nursing offers program options in nurse anesthesia, nurse practitioner (family health), and clinical nurse specialist (perioperative) leading to the MSN. The PhD program has a research-intensive focus within the areas of population health and outcomes, operational readiness, and clinical decision making. The Graduate School of Nursing is committed to promoting clinical excellence, and furthering research and scholarship in healthcare. Located within the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), the school enjoys interdisciplinary relationships with medicine, public health and other health related professions.

Duties: The incumbent serves as a primary faculty member, Family Nurse Practitioner Program (FNP) and is responsible for teaching, research, and administrative assignments within the FNP Department and in the Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program. In coordination with other faculty members of the DNP Program, the incumbent will assist in the planning and developing of curriculum; participate in teaching and preparing nursing students for advanced clinical and professional roles that demand accountability, expertise and leadership; advising students in scholarly project development and evaluating their progress in coursework; and maintaining a personal program of scholarship to include writing fundable research grants.

Qualification Requirements: The incumbent must bring to this position an earned research doctorate in nursing or a relevant field; must hold current license and certification, as appropriate; must demonstrate effective leadership and scholarly achievement including a history of publications; set standards of excellence and leadership in professional service; and must have strong interpersonal skills and commitment to graduate education and continued professional development of self and others. The incumbent must bring with them or have evidence of extramural funding for their program of research or be actively seeking external funding to support their research. Those candidates with a familiarization with the military and/or federal health care system are preferred. The successful candidate must be academically qualified for a faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level in accordance with USUHS academic policies.
