This position is no longer an active posting on HigherEdJobsJob Description: East Carolina University College of Nursing seeks a full-time 12 month faculty member for the Alternate Entry MSN option. Fixed-term or tenure-track position available. This option prepares students with non-nursing degrees (baccalaureate degrees in a field other than nursing) to become licensed registered nurses and continue their education in one of ECU CON advanced practice roles. The duties of this position include classroom, laboratory and clinical education in the pre-license portion of the curriculum.
ECU College of Nursing is a NLN Center of Excellence. The baccalaureate and master's programs at East Carolina University are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, One Dupont Circle, NW, Suite 530, Washington, DC 20036, (202) 887-6791. The CON offers programs at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels. We are a Doctoral Research Intensive University that is housed within a Division of Health Sciences that also includes the College of Allied Health Sciences, the Brody School of Medicine, and the School of Dental Medicine.
The undergraduate nursing option accepts approximately 130 pre-licensure students each semester and has over 100 RN/BSN students enrolled in an on-line option, as well as an RN/MSN option. The College of Nursing also has active graduate (500 students) and PhD programs. Thirty students are admitted to the AEMSN option each year.
The major clinical affiliation is Vidant Medical Center, a tertiary care center. There are many opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and joint appointments.
Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate in Nursing or related field
Eligible for tenure-track or tenured position
Strong clinical background in Adult Health or Gerontology
Recent teaching experience
Earned Masters degree in Nursing
Eligible for an unrestricted license as a registered nurse in N.C.
Minimum of 2 calendar years prior, full-time employment or the equivalent in clinical nursing practice.
