This position is no longer an active posting on HigherEdJobsElon University's Student Professional Development Center - Office of Career Services is pleased to announce two fellowship positions to begin mid-July 2012. The individuals appointed to these full-time, 10-month positions will assist in all aspects of the operation but in particular will (1) assist career advising staff with student professional development (career advising, assessments, employer relations); (2) collaborate with Student Life to lead career programming initiatives within the on-campus residential neighborhoods as well as other offices (e.g. Multicultural Center, Center for Leadership); (3) teach Elon's innovative student "transitions strategies" courses (one-hour credit weekly courses preparing students for their professional life after college); (4) support Elon's growing list of student professional development programming and events; and (5) assist with social media and other marketing efforts of the office. Each fellow will receive a $12K stipend, as well as university housing and a meal plan. Fellows are also granted funds for professional development (e.g. conferences) and opportunities for personal and professional growth such as Spanish language classes and, if selected, to participate in service learning programs (e.g. domestic and international alternative spring break trips).
Candidates must have completed their graduate degree in a related field such as counseling, higher education administration, human resources, or social work, OR be in the final semester of their graduate degree program.
Candidates must be able to commit to the full 10-month appointment to begin mid-July (the first month is dedicated to training). Successful applicants possess outstanding communication skills (interpersonal, written, and oral), the ability to effectively multi-task, strong attention to detail, a passion for learning, and a strong customer service orientation.
