2. Order "Official" transcript(s) of the highest degree received (as required by the job posting qualifications) to be MAILED DIRECTLY FROM the institution(s) DIRECTLY to: Human Resources Department, Shaw University, 118 E. South Street, Raleigh, NC 27601.

For example:
  • A job posting qualification requiring a Ph.D. requires an official transcript from the institution awarding the Ph.D. degree, and the transcript must be mailed from the awarding institution directly to the Shaw University Human Department.
  • A job posting qualification requiring a high school diploma requires a high school transcript or G.E.D. from the issuing institution.
Hand-delivered sealed transcripts will not be considered official and cannot be accepted.

The position is accountable for the effective coordination of University fund-raising activities and operations to accomplish the University's fundraising priorities and objectives, advance the mission and enhance the University's fiscal integrity, This includes identification of fund-raising opportunities and prospect cultivation; spearheading effective resource-generation strategies; coordination of the University's Annual Fund; increasing the University's portfolio of endowed scholarships and endowment funds; and organization and overseeing University fund-raising events. This position requires working in close collaboration with other University departments and ensuring the accuracy of donor information and fund-raising records.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • A minimum of seven years related experience, including a demonstrated history of proven fund-raising success at progressively higher levels, preferably in higher education with an HBCU.
  • Responsibly qualifies groups of prospects, including individuals, corporations and foundations, with a focus on major gift activity.
  • Coordinates personal visits of alumni, parents and friends of the University to identify potential donors and fund-raising volunteers.
  • Assists the Vice-President of Institutional in identifying and working with key volunteers to establish and strengthen Giving Advisory Boards for the University.
  • Utilizes personal visits, telephone, email and letter writing.
  • Cultivating alumni and friends of the University to foster their support of the University;
  • Developing and sustaining partnerships for the University;
  • Promoting relationships between the University and corporations, foundations and businesses;
  • Serves as an effective ambassador for the University, promoting University priorities, goals and objectives.
  • Coordination of the University's Annual Fund.
  • Strategies to effectively cultivate and solicit prospects.
  • Stewardship strategies.
  • Promoting long-range funding activities, such as capital needs and increases to the University's portfolio of endowed scholarships and endowment funds.
  • Plans and manages gala events.
  • Effectively coordinates and supervises event volunteers
  • Works effectively with the Public Relations and Alumni Relations offices, WSHA and other offices.
  • Works effectively with the Coordinator of Gifts Management to properly troubleshoot, maintain, and update the donor database.
  • Prepares donor reports.
  • Ensures security and maintenance of donor information and fund-raising records.
  • Ability to operate an automobile and possession of a valid driver's license.
