The HR Generalist assists in the administration of the human resources policies, procedures and programs. The HR Generalist carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: departmental development, employee relations, training and development, benefits, compensation, organizational development, and employment. Work requires a thorough understanding and application of human resources management theories, principles, methods, and practices which are usually gained through degree-granting schools or equivalent training and extensive professional work experience. An eight -year combination of education, training, and or professional experience in human resources administration work which includes at least two years of experience in following areas: Classification & Compensation, Human Resources Operations, Labor Relations, Recruiting & Examining, Training & Organizational Development. Confers with and counsels subordinate staff to exchange information, explain work policies, guidelines, standards and procedures and to identify the characteristics and impact of work-related problems in order to formulate possible solutions. Contacts with customers and subordinates require skills in understanding and/or influencing people. Persuasiveness or assertiveness and sensitivity to other's points of views are often required to influence behavior, change an opinion, achieve consensus or turn a situation around.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Knowledge of human resources management theories, principles, methods, and practices.
Knowledge of principles of customer service.
Ability to provide human resources consulting services to internal customers.
Ability to develop new human resources strategies and programs to attain workforce management and related objectives.
Skill in leading staff in professional administrative and support functions, including setting goals and measuring their attainment.
Expert in using appropriate computer applications and associated technology to develop reporting systems for compiling and analyzing relevant data used in making management decisions.
Skill in researching, analyzing, interpreting and applying laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines governing human resources activities.
Skill in the application of auditing, research and statistical techniques to human resources functions.
Skill in performing mathematical calculations and applying quantitative and statistical analysis techniques.
Skill in applying job evaluation, classification, and compensation analysis and administration techniques, methodologies, and practices.
Skill in examination development, validation, and administration techniques, methodologies, and practices. Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations to groups of people on various topics.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Other assigned duties

Minimum Requirements:

A bachelor's degree and/or a combination of 8 years of experience
Ability to lead and implement analytical strategic analysis.
Ability to synthesize information quickly, multi-task, work effectively - sometimes under extreme pressure of deadlines - and work easily with ambiguity and shifting priorities.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to effectively present information; make persuasive speeches. related Experience applying local, state, and federal policies and regulations to develop department policies and serve as the principal resource for such to all entities.
