This is an 11-month tenure track appointment consisting of both research and extension duties (75% R / 25% E). The faculty member is expected to develop a nationally recognized research and extension program in natural resource and environmental economics. The research should focus on integrating and modeling the socio-economic, institutional, and ecological factors that affect adaptation to changes in climate. Extension programs may focus on issues associated with water quality and quantity, natural resource conservation and the environment (air, energy, ecology), and effects of public policies on farms/ranches, households, and communities in Oklahoma.

Specific responsibilities may include: Participate in multidisciplinary teams to address issues related to natural resource and environmental economics. Publish in recognized peer-reviewed journals, extension publications, and related outlets for professional peers and others develop an extension program to disseminate information and teach natural resource and environmental economics concepts to interest groups in Oklahoma, which may include farmers/ranchers, consumers, businesses, and agencies Provide curricula, in-service education, and support for state, area, and county educators. Advise and serve as research advisor for M.S. and Ph.D. students. Cultivate and secure external support from private and governmental sources, including Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality and USDA/NIFA.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. degree in agricultural economics, economics, or other related disciplines. Candidate should have a demonstrated ability to integrate interdisciplinary models (e.g., biological/ecological, climatological, and economic) to evaluate system-wide changes at a regional or landscape scale; applications to agricultural production are particularly desirable. This position supports a National Science Foundation EPSCOR grant by providing applied research and educational programs that integrate agricultural economics, ecology, and environmental and resource economics. Effective communication skills, both written and oral, are essential. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position will be filled by July 1, 2014, or as soon thereafter as a qualified candidate is available. Continuation of this position is subject to performance, need, and available funding.
