The educational coordinator is a 12 month position in the School of Health Sciences. The coordinator will be someone who is committed to high quality education and the mission of curriculum design to provide learning opportunities to students in the areas of personal fitness, leisure pursuits for life balance, and wellness promotion.
The coordinator will be a member of the School of Health Sciences and will report to an associate dean in the school. The coordinator will collaborate with the Athletic Director and designees in the establishment of course schedules, space allocation, and maintenance of safety policies for all courses.
The primary purpose of this job is to manage all aspects of the for-one-credit courses in fitness, leisure, and wellness for the University.
Facilitate the design of one credit courses that focus on the development of lifelong fitness, leisure, and wellness courses that are congruent with the mission of the School of Health Sciences and the Essential Learning Outcomes of Quinnipiac University.
Ensure that all courses meet the criteria of the curriculum committee of the School of Health Sciences.
Work with the associate dean and the Athletics Department in the scheduling of courses for all semesters in the year including fall, January term, spring, and possibly summer.
Ensure that all courses have appropriately qualified faculty that meet the criteria for part time employment at Quinnipiac University. Hiring of the appropriate part time faculty to teach all courses in fitness, leisure, and wellness, with the support and collaboration of an associate dean.
Support the part time faculty to obtain supplies and equipment; training in the submission of grades via the University electronic systems; and the maintenance of student attendance records and all University safety protocols.
Teaching 16 courses during an academic year will be required.
Conduct student feedback on course faculty for faculty growth.
Periodically conduct needs assessment for new courses.
Submit proposals to the School of Health Sciences Dean for innovative programming for students.
Co-direct, with an associate dean, the SHS Advisory Board for Courses in Fitness, Leisure, and Wellness.
Qualifications & Special Instructions to Applicants:
Bachelor degree in health, health sciences, athletic training or sports medicine, physical education, wellness education or a related field to the job responsibilities is required. A Master's degree is preferred.
Experience in teaching courses at the University level in fitness, leisure, or wellness.
Experience in curriculum or course design.
Evidence of successful collaborations with undergraduate students in learning or educational programs.
Evidence of strong interprofessional skills in verbal and written communication.
Evidence of strong organizational skills.
