Programs in Fashion and Textiles at Texas Woman's University, housed within the College of Arts and Sciences, offers degree programs leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree in Fashion Design and the Bachelor of Science degree in Fashion Merchandising. The programs emphasize preparing students to enter into and succeed in the fast-paced, competitive, global fashion industry. All classes are located on the Denton campus, approximately forty miles north of the extensive Dallas fashion market, providing students and faculty with easy access to the fashion industry and industry professionals. Faculty members with academic specialties in fashion design, merchandising, or textiles all blend a wealth of industry experience to enrich classroom experiences for the approximately 200 fashion majors in the programs. In addition to courses for the major, programs of study are supported with required business and art courses.

Fashion and Textiles is seeking an exceptional individual with areas of expertise to complement the current faculty and program strengths, primarily in the area of fashion design. Fashion and Textiles provides a foundation for success while educating creative and employable fashion designers. Currently, fashion design program graduates work for companies such as Nordstrom, Haggar, JC Penney, Sharon Young, Walmart, Fossil, Williamson-Dickie Mfg., Tandy Brands, Neiman Marcus, Double D Ranch, and Panhandle Slim, among many others. This position will focus primarily on teaching, with a teaching load of four to five lecture and/or lab classes each fall and spring semester. Desired teaching capabilities include flat patternmaking, draping, fashion illustration, beginning sewing, conceptual design development, historic costume, and computer-aided design with experience in the use of Lectra and Adobe software packages. Also, this position will require participation in program and university service activities, especially in support of student involvement in industry functions as well as industry and academic organizations. Finally, all design faculty are encouraged to continue with professional design activities in the industry. This position requires a candidate that has completed an M.F.A. or M.A. in Fashion Design or a related topic. In addition, professional fashion industry experience is expected, and teaching experience is preferred.
