The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Daniel K. Inouye Graduate School of Nursing, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Nursing Science Department invites applications for a full time (tenure track) Assistant, Associate or Full Professor position. The PhD program has a research-intensive focus within the areas of Bio-behavioral Sciences, Health Services research, Ethics Policy and Leadership options. The Graduate School of Nursing is committed to promoting clinical excellence, and furthering research and scholarship in healthcare. Located within the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), the school enjoys interdisciplinary relationships with medicine, public health and other health related professions.
Duties: The incumbent serves as an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor, in the Graduate School of Nursing, PhD in Nursing Science Department and is responsible for teaching, research, providing services to the School, the University and professional discipline, and accomplishing administrative assignments. This faculty member will primarily serve in the graduate school, supporting the PhD and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) educational programs. He/she may also support DNP program options in Nurse Anesthesia, Nurse Practitioner (family health and psychiatric mental health) and Clinical Nurse Specialist (adult gerontology/perioperative) leading to the DNP degree. Additional responsibilities include developing and teaching advanced nursing practice courses, advising students in dissertation, capstone, thesis and scholarly project development, and evaluating student progress in research courses and scholarly work.
Qualification Requirements: The incumbent must bring to this position an earned research doctorate in nursing or a relevant field); hold a current license and certification, as appropriate, and demonstrate effective leadership and scholarly achievement including a history of publications; set standards of excellence and leadership in professional service; and possess strong interpersonal skills and commitment to graduate education and continued professional development of self and others. The incumbent must actively seek intramural and external funding to support their research, as well as seek funding support for the scholarship and dissemination of their findings. Ideally, the best candidate will have an established program of scholarly work with extramural funding. Candidates with research doctorates, doctoral level teaching experience, as well as a background in the military and/or federal health care system are preferred. The successful candidate must be academically qualified for a faculty appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level in accordance with USUHS/GSN academic policies.

The position sensitivity level is designated as non-critical sensitive and does not require a secret clearance. The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain the non-critical sensitivity level. Nominees for this position shall be required to successfully complete a security background investigation. Failure to meet the background investigation requirements will result in the withdrawal of the position offer or removal from the position.
