Reporting to the Director of Sustainability, the Program Manager is responsible for managing sustainability programming throughout the University. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating academic, research and technology initiatives and for LEED certification initiatives for campus buildings. The Program Manager will be responsible for moving capital projects through the LEED certification process, which includes working with project consultant teams and senior level management to ensure that the project design and construction meet LEED standards. In addition, he/she is responsible for the preparation of Temple University's annual Greenhouse Gas Inventory. The incumbent is responsible for the development and preparation of Temple University's annual Recycling and Trash Report. The Program Manager develops, plans, coordinates and implements sustainability-related undergraduate and graduate student research opportunities, including working with students to develop publishable papers in academic journals. The incumbent collaborates with design teams to establish sustainable design criteria and goals and coordinate the green building certification process. In addition, he/she supports the Undergraduate Certificate in Sustainability program. The Program Manager performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree and at least four years of comprehensive experience in environmental project management and sustainability research. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:
  • LEED accreditation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage sustainability and research programs.
  • Familiarity with greenhouse gas inventory tracking and reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and abilities in managing timelines.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and innovatively with minimal direction.
  • Master's degree in engineering, architecture, environmental science or related field.
  • Advanced training related to sustainability, management and research within a complex institutional setting.
