Associate Professor/Professor and Chair-History & Government-13AS-HG01

The Department of History and Government invites applications and nominations for the position of Department Chair. Successful applicants must have a Ph.D. in Political Science or History, as well as a teaching, scholarship and service record appropriate for a tenured appointment at the rank of Professor (preferred) or Associate Professor. Academic leadership and administrative experience are essential. Successful grant writing/fund raising experience is highly desirable as is active membership in professional associations. The Chair must demonstrate a collaborative leadership style, an appreciation for a multidisciplinary environment and a commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education. The appointment is at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor with tenure. The Chair position is a 12-month administrative appointment with responsibilities for overseeing programs leading to the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Master of Arts degrees with majors in History or Government, as well as the B.A. and B.S. degrees in Government (with emphasis in Legal Studies), and B.A. and B.S. in Criminal Justice (co-administered with the Department of Sociology and Social Work).
