The Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences in the College of Health Sciences at Texas Woman's University, seeks candidates to fill the position of Chair of Nutrition & Food Sciences. The university is located in Denton, Texas which is located in the greater Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

The University: Texas Woman's University is a public university that has provided over one hundred years of service to students from Texas, other states, and from many foreign countries. TWU includes both teaching and research with an emphasis on liberal arts and specialized or professional studies. TWU is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award baccalaureate, masters and doctoral degrees to its graduates. Our university welcomes and admits men to all of its programs.

Background: The Chair will oversee the Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences housed on two campuses in Denton and in Houston. The department has the oldest doctoral program in nutrition in the state of Texas, boasts a nationally ranked undergraduate dietetics program, an interdisciplinary exercise and sports nutrition master's program, and a 100% online MS degree in nutrition. Currently, the Department of NFS offers a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition with an emphasis in Nutritional Sciences, Dietetics, or Wellness; a Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutrition in Business and Industry; and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Culinary Science and Food Service Management. Master of Science degrees are offered in Nutrition; Food Science; Food Systems Administration; Exercise and Sports Nutrition, and a dual degree in Food Systems Administration combined with a Master of Business Administration. Our curriculum culminates in a doctoral degree in nutrition. Additionally, the department offers two graduate level dietetic internship programs in Denton and Houston, and a Didactic Program in Denton, all of which are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).

Qualifications: Candidates for this position must have a PhD in Nutrition or related field and a strong scholarly record of peer-reviewed publications, and external funding. A record of teaching experience both at the undergraduate and graduate levels, strong administration and leadership skills, and effective communication and problem solving skills are also expected. The RD credential is preferred. The successful candidate will have the ability to provide strong intellectual, interpersonal, and academic leadership; a vision for expanding research and external funding opportunities, and a commitment to enhancing excellence in professionally-oriented degree programs.

Rank: Associate Professor or Professor

Responsibilities: Twelve month appointment on the Denton campus. Expected to conduct research and teach in area of expertise, advise students, and serve as an administrator for the department.
