Mechanical Engineering Faculty Position

Responsibilities: The University of Mount Union seeks an educator-scholar in the area of mechanical systems and design. Primary responsibilities will consist of teaching and curriculum development in mechanical systems, including areas such as vibrations, controls, dynamics and kinematics, design of machine elements, and capstone senior design. An ability to teach a variety of courses and labs across the mechanical engineering curriculum is a plus. Additional responsibilities include advising students, program evaluation and assessment, scholarly activity and involvement in faculty governance.

Qualifications: The successful candidate should hold a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a closely related field and have demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate engineering education. A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial experience, competence with computational tools, and experience with laboratory development are highly desirable. Candidates must have a commitment to teaching in a liberal arts setting.

Available: August 1, 2014.

Compensation: Competitive, based on qualifications. Fringe benefits include a 10% contribution by the University to TIAA/CREF after one year of service; contribution by the University toward hospitalization, major medical, disability, and group life insurance; tuition exchange for qualified dependents.
