MSW Director of Field Instruction
Erikson Institute, an independent graduate school in child development located in Chicago, is seeking a director of field instruction for its new Master of Social Work program, which is expected to launch in fall 2014. Erikson's developmentally-informed MSW seeks to prepare a new kind of social work professional: one who integrates social work and child development knowledge in the context of community and culture and who has clinical expertise and systems knowledge. The program will offer concentrations in Children and Families and School Social Work.
The director of field instruction is a full-time, twelve-month administrative and instructional position beginning in fall 2013. The position reports to the MSW program director.
Requirements for the position include an MSW from a CSWE-accredited program. We seek applicants with a minimum of three years post-MSW practice experience. Administrative and/or teaching experience in a school or program of social work is also preferred.
Responsibilities include recruitment and development of field placement sites; assignment of students and faculty field instructors to agency placements; development and maintenance of appropriate records and communication with field agencies; collaboration with other faculty to plan and implement field instructor training; development of field education resources; provision of administrative leadership of the field instruction staff and faculty instructors; teaching of practice courses; implementation of appropriate assessment procedures; and adherence to and integration of field education accreditation requirements as mandated by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
Application process: Candidates are asked to submit a letter of application that describes their view of the integration of child development and social work as well as the relevance of their education and experience to an MSW program that integrates the two. Please include a resume, official graduate school transcript and three letters of reference on letterhead with original signatures. Submit materials to: Dr. Frances Stott, Chair of Faculty Search Committee, Erikson Institute, 451 North LaSalle, Chicago, IL 60654.
