The University of Indianapolis seeks applicants for an Academic Advisor in the School of Business. This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt staff position.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to providing academic advising and assistance to undergraduate business students; supporting students in the online registration process and during add/drop weeks; evaluating transfer credits; maintaining and updating student academic records; conducting degree audits; teaching a New Student Experience course; advising incoming freshmen during summer registration; meeting with prospective students and their parents; staying up to date with changes to the general education and business curriculum; participating in student recruitment and employer networking events; and assisting with special projects.
Required Education/Experience/Skills (Minimum Qualifications):
A minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required. Experience in an administrative support position within a higher education setting is preferred. Candidates should possess excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills; be responsive to students' questions and concerns in a timely manner; have demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, other departments, and community partners; and have demonstrated success in working with diverse student populations. The successful candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience with Banner is preferred.
