Job Description:

Assists Director of Security in overseeing the security and safety operations of the college.

Will manage security operations, to include, dispatch, patrol, investigations, access control reporting, student identification system and daily security officer duties. Ensures that college constituents adhere to federal and state laws, county ordinances and college rules and regulations.

  • Manage the daily operations of the security department.
  • Assist with the management of contract security officers.
  • Develop policies and procedures for security staff.
  • Develop and manage training programs.
  • Advise director on matters related to strategic planning, budgeting, and accreditation.
  • Manages, dispatch, CCTV, investigations, and daily patrol operations.
  • Investigates HCC security policy violations.
  • Prepares/reviews all incident reports and processes them according to HCC procedure.
  • Monitors security violations and inefficiencies by conducting periodic audits.
  • Identifies safety and security problems by reporting violations according to HCC policy.
  • Interact on a day-to-day basis with the college community.
  • Assists in keeping the college compliant with federal reporting requirements for security incidents.
  • Serves as one of the liaisons between the college and local law enforcement.
  • Attends meetings and conferences to maintain state of the art campus safety practices, and shares new information obtained with the on-site manager.
  • Represents the college at related security programs, when requested.
  • Perform routine inspections of College facilities to ensure compliance with government regulations, safety, and crime prevention concerns.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours which could include nights or weekends.
  • Must be able to respond to off hour emergencies/issues.
  • Able to physically perform the required duties of the position, which include walking, climbing ladders, running and lifting 75 pounds.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Security or Vice President of Administration and Finance.

The candidate must successfully complete a background check, physical and drug screen.


$49,330 Plus excellent medical insurances, paid leaves and tuition reimbursement. This position is not overtime eligible.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • AA degree in law enforcement or business management required.
  • Course work in criminal justice or security preferred.
  • Minimum five years experience in a management position preferably in a security or law enforcement.
  • Minimum of three years supervisory experience required.
  • Knowledge of surveillance procedures utilizing electronic equipment preferred
  • Ability to use routine equipment such as a desktop computer, two-way radio and experience with Microsoft office applications.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local criminal laws.
  • Knowledge of higher education regulations as they relate to student information and security preferred (Clery and FERPA).
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Minimum of three years supervisory experience required.
